what is baseband for iphone 4 and can i jailbreak my phone if i update to apples 4.2 software?
i see in alot of forums people talking about baseband. does anyone know what that is? i heard it has to do with unlocking the phone. my phone is not unlocked, i have it with AT&T does this make a difference for me? also i have a jailbroken iphone 4 with apples 4.1 firmware on limera1n. apple came out with a new update (4.2) if i update it i know i will loose my jailbreak but can i jailbreak it again? or does baseband have something to do with it as well. I am no computer wiz, my freind jailbroke my phone so give me some slack if these questions are stupid.

Well the bottom line is your phone is not unlocked and you dont need to use the unlock right ?
then you can surely go ahead with the update as it will not cause you anyproblem. All you can do is just connec yoour device and when detected in itunes just check for updates and update your iphone.
Once it is done you can use limera1n to jailbreak your iphone
