how much does it cost to get a cracked iphone screen repaired @ Apple Store (UK?) Is it worth fixing yourself?

I just managed to crack the screen on my iphone 8gb 3g! felt well stupid until i saw how many have done it in the past!
My first question is …. I have seen that the screen can be replaced in 10 mins at an Apple Store. Does anyone know how much that costs?
Secondly – there seems to be a kit available to replace the screen yourself. I am not bad with my hands and give myself a 90% chance of getting it right but how many have actually done this successfully? There seems to be a lot of sob stories online of people ripping out wires that shouldnt have been etc …..
Any help or advice would be very handy! ta 
That depends. If you still have warranty then it’s free and they don’t do it in the store they’ll ask you to send it to the apple corporation. If you don have warranty they’ll probably make you pay around like $100 because they have to take it apart or they just might give you a new one. Also they might not replace physical damage either. If you’re doing it yourself it’s not a good idea and even if your a good handy man I’d give you a 50% chance of doing it right. Many people do it wrong and they know what they’re doing with the iPod touch.
