IPhone 4 : An Overview
Since it was launched in 2007, more than 50 million iPhones have been sold – an unprecedented number in the cell phone industry. It has broadened horizons to what cell phones are capable of and what they are used for. The iPhone 4 is claimed be the phone that will define the next generation of cell phones. So, does it live up to the hype? The iPhone features a new, 3.5-inch screen called the “Retina.” It is an IPS, LCD display that lays claim to 326 pixels per inch and a resolution of 960 x 640 pixels. In layman’s terms, this means that the display is clearer and of a much higher resolution than any other phone available. It really attracts the eye. The iPhone 4 has a 40% extended battery life (meaning up to 7 hours of talk-time or 300 hours on standby) in comparison to its predecessor and features the same processor as is used in the iPad. The processor is as powerful as you will find in any smartphone from any manufacturer. The difference in processing power is really noticeable when you use it. The operating system’s previous moniker of iPhone OS 4.0 has been trimmed to the sleek iOS 4. Best of all, it now features the ability to multitask. Having to sacrifice listening to your favorite tunes while you check email is a thing of the past. The iPhone 4 also allows you to create folders in iTunes and it comes with the availability of iBooks. According to Apple, 1500 features have been enhanced in the creation of the new operating system, which is sure to please users. Pictures look great on the iPhone 4. The 5.0 megapixel camera also records video in high-def at 720p. After hearing more than their share of complaints about the cameras in previous iPhones, Apple has apparently decided to listen and take measures to avoid these complaints in the future. The iPhone 4 also brings “Face Time” to the smartphone game. Face Time allows you to place video calls from a smartphone for the first time ever. Expect to pay around $200.00 for an iPhone 4 with a two year contract. Be sure to check various network operators and providers because the price will vary. You may be able to find it for less than $200.00. It is also better to resist the urge to run down to the store and buy the first phone you see. Check online and comparison shop. It does not take much time and may save you some significant cash.
