Why is the Ipod touch so much cheaper in the US?
When i look at buying an I Touch from www.amazon.com, it’s $274.99 for the 32GB, 3rd Gen version, which equals to £170. If you want to buy an I touch 32GB 3rd Gen in the UK, it costs about £200, minimum.
Is there something I’m missing that’s different about these 2? They look the same to me…

Is it just me, or is there a good £40 more id pay by buying it from amazon.co.uk, whereas, if i bought it from amazon.com, id pay £40 less, and just get it shipped to the UK?
Are these different iiPodor something? Why is there a price difference? i ddon’tget it…
amazon.com won’t let you buy one and get it shipped to the UK and even if they did you would be charged VAT upon arrival.
You can try a US seller on ebay that ships internationally. You can get a new one for around $280-$290, but will have to $20-$30 extra for shipping. Also, make sure the seller is shipping with Express Mail International, not Priority Mail International. Priority Mail international is extremely slow about 40% of the time. Never had any problems with Express Mail International. And ask the seller to put the declared value under $80 or you will be charged VAT plus £8 by Parcelforce. Even if he does declare it at a low value, there is a small chance customs will open it and charge VAT, so that’s a possibility you have to take into account.
As for the price difference between the US and the rest of the world, its partly due to the good (for me, an exporter) exchange rate, VAT on imports which we don’t have in the US and the fact that this is the largest market for electronic goods.
