If I jailbreak my iPhone, will Apple be able to deny me access to their app store?
I am deciding whether or not it’s worth it for me to jailbreak my iPhone. I currently have a number of apps that I have invested money into, and I do not want to lose any of them if I decide to jailbreak my iPhone. I’m not planning on unlocking it for use on a different carrier, just jailbreaking it to get more functionality out of it (specifically threading without having to pay an extra $20 a month to AT&T).
My question is, will I be able to continue to access the Apple app store, and therefore all of the apps that I have bought up until now, if I jailbreak my iPhone? Is there a possibility of Apple finding out at some later date and denying me access to them?
Even if, worst case scenario, you lose all of your applications you had for your iPhone, you will still be able to download them again through iTunes at no cost to you. Your purchases through iTunes are linked to your iTunes account and it will recognize that you’ve purchased an application before and prompt you to re-download it for free.
I wouldn’t reccommend jailbreaking your iPhone though. Apple can’t deny you access to their app store because of it (and why would they? They make money off those apps!), but they can and will void your warranty if and when they find out you did this. There are certain issues that come up with jailbroken iPods and iPhones that never occur with regular Apple products and they will be able to find out if you ever send your iPhone in for repair.
