Does the iPhone 4 support the new AT&T 4g network coming out soon?
I heard about AT&T upgrading their network to 4g, it’s on their commercials and all over their website. But I was confused as to if the iPhone 4 will be able to take advantage of the new network. If not, any ideas to if Apple could send out an update that allows it to receive the 4g signal? I hope that the iPhone is able to receive the benefits of 4x faster download speeds, that would be awesome!
Probably not, since 4g is on a different radio frequency than edge and 3g (hspa) . And your phone will have to have a new chip in it that will get both frequency’s . Which no phones out at the moment have. But there are 3 new phones that are coming out at the end of march which go along with the 4g network. But maybe apple will send out an update that will allow it to get the Hspa+ frequency which comes out the same time as the 4g network which is like an inbetween network between 3g and 4g . Kind of like a 3.5 g. Just look at the att site for more info if you want.
