What repairs does Apple cover out of warranty as part of its quality assurance coverage?
For example, I know on the 13″ Black and White Macbooks they will replace the palm rest/keyboard/trackpad section if it has cracks along the edge even if the Macbook is not covered by Apple Care.
My iPhone 3GS has problems with the ringer/mute switch. I was due for upgrade and got the iPhone 4 but would still like to get the 3GS fixed and wonder if Apple fixes that issue, as it seems to be a fairly common problem and this phone is a warranty replacement that is only about 5 months old and otherwise in pristine condition.
The warranty covers manufacturer’s defects. If that’s the reason for the problem with the ringer switch, Apple will repair it for free.
